For the third weekend in a row, the team of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney dominated the box office, as according to Film.com "Gravity" easily took the top spot on the charts with an estimated $31 million.

That was more than enough to best both "Captain Phillips," which came in second for the second weekend in a row with $17.3 million, and the new horror remake "Carrie," which started strong but faded to third place with a $17 million debut.

And the news was even worse for the weekend's other new releases, as both "Escape Plan" (fifth place with $9.8 million) and "Fifth Estate" (a dismal eighth place with just $1.7 million) bombed out.
