Was the 'Ant-Man' Release Pushed Up to Make Room for More Marvel?

Edgar Wright's gonna have to hustle even harder (and most definitely faster) to make that long-awaited "Ant-Man" flick happen on schedule, ya'll, because according to Deadline, Disney and Marvel Studios have now upped the release date for the insectazoid pic from Nov. 6, 2015 to July 31, 2015 — a little more than three months sooner than originally planned.

Considering it took Wright eight freakin' years to nail down the script for his "Ant-Man" (no, seriously, he was tapped for the project back in '06 and just finished the screenplay with Joe Cornish in July-ish), that extra time might be sort of precious to the guy ... So, Marvel must have a pretty good (read: lucrative) reason up-sleeve to make such a schedule shift, riiiiiight?

'Cause as our pals at Cinema Blend note, the new "Ant-Man" release date was previously occupied only by the book-to-screen adaptation of "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" — a YA story, granted, but with some time travel and gothy stuff in the mix as well — but the summer box office schedule was already jammed with other sure-to-be-heavy-hitters like Marvel's own "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" (May 1, 2015), Zack Snyder's "Batman Vs. Superman" or whatever they're titling the Batflecker (July 17, 2015) and, assuming there's no delay conveniently related to this news, J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII."

Speculation looms over whether Marvel might be shooting for a three-fer in 2015 or just looking to replicate some recent release schedule history* or whether this could mean Disney's new "Star Wars" installment'll need a little extra time in the post-production cooker?

What do you think of the news? Are your spidey senses tingling at all about what it means? If so, cast your thoughts in the comments below!

*In 2011, "Thor" was released on May 3, while "Captain America: The First Avenger" dropped on July 22. The studio's also booked May 6 and July 20 of 2016 for its phase whatever round of new movie projects ("Doctor Strange" suspected to be one of them).
