'Kill Your Darlings' Trailer: Beat Gen Poets Gone Wild

One might suspect something creative and fancy pantsy was responsible for bringing together the bright poetic minds of Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs at Columbia University in the mid-forties, but in actuality it was a rather twisty murder incident that ultimately made 'em bedfellows of the beat generation.

Here we have (via Yahoo! Movies) the first trailer for John Krokidas' "Kill Your Darlings," featuring Daniel Radcliffe as a bespectacled Ginsberg, Jack Huston as Mr. Been-There-Done-That-Kerouac, Ben Foster as Burroughs and Dane DeHaan as Lucien Carr, a kid who offed a persistent professor (Michael C. Hall) for getting much too frisky in the park.

The film centers on the budding relationship — which is far more saucy than some everyday bro-ish college friendship — of Ginsberg and Carr, who get close as close gets and intend to jet off to Paris together to enjoy the inevitable post-World War II liberation but wind up behind bars after Carr knife-resists the advances of Teacher of the Year in Riverside Park and dumps the body into the Hudson River.

We're not in Hogwarts anymore, people. Did we mention this is a true story?

Elizabeth Olsen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, David Cross and Kyra Sedgwick also star in the pic, which hits theaters on Oct. 18.
