"Teen Wolf" star Holland Roden took a break from looking gorgeous to address a pesky little rumor that's been spreading like wildfire across Hollywood. Did she get cast as Mary Jane in the third installment of Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man" series, due out in 2016, or didn't she?
Turns out, Roden doesn't even know how this story started, especially because she said she never even read for the part. Whodathunkit!
In an interview with MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con, Roden—who plays Lydia Martin on "Wolf"—finally put the red-headed rumor to sleep. Huzzah!
"About a month ago, I got about five phone calls in one day congratulating me and I said, 'I've never read for that [Mary Jane]. I don't know what you're talking about!'"
Roden is in good company when it comes to Mary Jane/"Spider-Man" rumors. "Divergent" star Shailene Woodley was originally cast in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," but was cut from the film after shooting her scenes. Now, Woodley may have been cut from the series altogether and the part recast.
But just because Roden hasn't read for the part yet does not mean she wouldn't love playing Peter Parker's main squeeze.
"I wish I read for 'Spider-Man.' I never have," Roland told MTV.
Another day, another casting rumor put the bed. Besides, we're holding out for a far-fetched Kristen Wiig/Mary Jane fantasy.
We can dream, right?!
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is slated for an April 2014 release.
