We were starting to get a pretty serious case of whiplash over the issue of whether Daniel Craig would agree to don that tux one more time for that ubiquitous "Bond 24" installment and the news of whether his "Skyfall" director Sam Mendes would or would not or wait he maybe would return to helm. But now it's time to raise a toast with a "shaken-not-stirred" martini indeed because the studio has today confirmed the pair will re-team for another installment of 007, comin' at us in 2015.

Sony announced today, via Deadline, that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who'd expressed a willingness to be patient for Mendes after he'd even said he was bowing out in turn for other passion projects, have gotten their way and with wrangling the helmer back in for the pic. All it took was giving the guy a little time.

"Following the extraordinary success of 'Skyfall,'" the pair declared, "we're really excited to be working once again with Daniel Craig, Sam Mendes and [screenwriter] John Logan."

Mendes added, "I am very pleased by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct 'Bond 24.' I very much look forward to taking up the reins again." Phew!

To accommodate Mendes' schedule, the studio has set the U.S. release date for the pic as Nov. 6, 2015, with the U.K. getting their spy action on a tad earlier with an Oct. 23, 2015 release.

As for Craig, well, the push-pull over his potential return was never quite so dramatic an issue, although there was an awful lotta chatter about the potential incoming of Idris Elba for the role (the "Pacific Rim" star recently addressed that buzz, saying that becoming Bond, James Bond would be "lovely" but that it also wasn't something he was "actually hop[ing] to come to fruition").

Note: There's still no word yet on whether Penelope Cruz will, as rumored, become the next Bond girl.
