'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' Final Poster: Why the Long (Pretty) Faces?

How do you get your audience both turned on and biting their nails at the same time? Start by contacting the graphic designers behind the latest (and final!)  "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones"  poster, because they managed to achieve this seemingly impossible feat. It's ominous. It's sexy. It's flippin' awesome.

In the new sheet, courtesy of MTV Hollywood Crush, our favorite wannabe Shadowhunter Clary Fray (Lily Collins) is looking pretty worried and intense while her hot (we reiterate, hot) new friends — from left to right, Jace Wayland (Jamie Campbell Bower), Alec Lightwood (Kevin Zegers), Isabelle Lightwood (Jemima West) and Simon Lewis (Robert Sheehan) — stand behind her with the same hardened expression. Yeesh! Why so serious? Oh wait, they have been chosen (hola, tagline!) to save Clary's mother and defeat a team of malignant demonsduh.

A creepy, gloomy New York City skyline is in the background as a flock of foreboding winged creatures (we 'wanna say birds, but who knows?) dance around a rune projected in the clouds. Hmmm...well, we're terrified of what these crazy kids will do next. But they're all. So. Attractive. Such weird, polarizing emotions!

Collins caught up with MTV Hollywood Crush in April and dished about her demon-crushing character.

"I actually saw a lot of similarities between Clary and I," Collins told MTV. "She's a go-getter. She's feisty. She fights for what she believes in, and I really associate a lot of her qualities with mine, but I also wanted to bring this realness to her, like she was just the girl next door, because I didn't want her to be this caricature of a fan-favorite heroine in a book. I wanted her to be someone you could be friends with next door."

"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" arrives in theaters August 21.
