"Something big was leftover." Get it? No? You will.
There have been plenty of cautionary "Don't Play God" sci-fi tales, but the "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" movies are unique in their argument of "Don't Play Master Chef." If you're destined to live only on sardines, so be it; trying to change your situation can only result in foodstuff super-storms and, now, an island that would make Dr. Moreau himself quake in his boots (or sandals ... or sun hat ... or whatever it was that Marlon Brando was wearing whilst Val Kilmer hosted animal-people orgies).
If you remember from the first movie (and how could you forget that gloriously crazy thing?), young inventor Phil Lockwood (Bill Hader) created the FLDSMDFR, a device that turned water into various foods and led to a "Day After Tomorrow" kind of scenario involving a lot of spaghetti and meatballs instead of snow and CGI wolves. Now, Phil and his pals return to the no-man's-land that was Swallow Falls to find that nature — or at least the FLDSMDFR — has "found a way," to quote that lovable Chaos Theorist, Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum in "Jurassic Park").
You've never known true fear until you've come face-to-face with a mighty Tacodile ... Supreme.
