Finding Finnick Odair for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" was quite a formidable task for the filmmakers because, as with most literary hunks of note, fans have incredibly high standards for representation of the fictional bf. Peep Google Images' results for Finnick fan art, and you'll see what we mean.

Director Francis Lawrence plucked Sam Claflin of "Snow White and the Huntsman" esteem for the job of portraying the impossibly charming and handsome trident-wielding fella, and from the looks of this first-glimpse at Claflin in character, it was a wise decision.

"Catching Fire" is featured on the cover of this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, and standing right alongside the face of the franchise - Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen - is Claflin in his skinsuit, clutching a modernized version of his trusty weapon of choice. All that ambivalence and postured pride of the District 4 tribute we know and love so well is right there for the world to see.

As a bonus, EW's Facebook page also presents a fun little still of Claflin's Finnick brazenly annoying Lawrence's Katniss with his I'm-so-awesome attitude in what appears to be training garb. Hot stuff. Seriously.

In a teaser of their feature interview with the cast and filmmakers, Claflin admitted to being inundated with fan instructions following his announcement for the role. It was "the scariest moment of my life," he explained. "I’m on Twitter and so many people have been like 'Don't mess this up, or we will kill you.'" See? Toldya.

Also of interest is the fact that Francis Lawrence found himself following in some very big footsteps - those of director Gary Ross, who stepped away from the franchise after movie one - and facing one castmate, Woody Harrelson, having a difficult time with the director switcheroo. Yikes.

From Jennifer Lawrence's perspective, though, it sounds like things went swimmingly (pun intended) on the set of the second "Hunger Games" installment. According to her, Claflin got a good glimpse of the cast's hilarious antics during a party she threw during production. "When Sam walked in I was chasing Woody and we’d flipped over my couch and Woody had a sock all the way down my throat," she said. We can only imagine the sight.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" hits theaters on Nov. 22.
