The Name Is Bond. Oscar Bond?

The name is Bond. Oscar Bond.

Okay, so that doesn't have quite the same ring to it as James Bond. But movie fans better get used to it, because according to The Hollywood Reporter, this year's Oscars will feature a special 50th anniversary tribute to the longest running franchise in movie history.

Forget the man with the golden gun, because Bond is now the man with the golden statue.

Of course, as popular as the 007 films have been over the past half century, they typically aren't Academy Award material, with the exception of the music. But with the latest Daniel Craig release, "Skyfall," topping both critics lists and the $1 billion box office mark worldwide, that could change this year.

Either way, fans will have a license to thrill thanks to the special tribute planned by producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.

"We are very happy to include a special sequence on our show saluting the Bond films on their 50th birthday," the duo revealed. "Starting with 'Dr. No' back in 1962, the 007 movies have become the longest-running motion picture franchise in history and a beloved global phenomenon."

Hey, you know what they say: 23rd time's the charm.
