"Angry Birds" has already conquered the video game app market and with a new animated series in the works, it's also well on its way to dominating television as well. And now, after a year and a half of behind the scenes work, it appears "Angry Birds" is officially taking aim at the world of movies, as Deadline is reporting that the "Angry Birds" feature film is set to hit theaters in 2016.

And these birds aren't just going to be angry, they're also going to be despicable.

That's because "Despicable Me" producer John Cohen has signed on to produce "Angry Birds." He joins former Chairman of Marvel Studios and "Iron Man" executive producer David Maisel, pretty much assuring that this edition of "Angry Birds" is going to pack a real wallop.

Naturally, Mikael Hed, the CEO of "Angry Birds" parent company Rovio Entertainment, is pretty darn stoked.

"With John's hands-on producer background and David's expertise in establishing and running his own successful studio, these two are the dream team for making a movie outside the studio system," Hed said. "Both professionals have the ideal skills and vision to achieve incredible things."

Of course, movies based on video games usually suck, but "Angry Birds" fans should be pleased to learn that Rovio has decided to produce the film themselves, outside of the studio system, in order to maintain creative control over their flock of enraged fowl.

2016, you have been warned.
