As a member of both Nirvana and The Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl is unquestionably one of the most iconic figures in modern rock music. But he's also no stranger to Hollywood, having appeared in several TV shows and movies (see: "The Muppets" and "Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny"), not to mention some of the coolest music videos ever produced.

And now he's combining those passions in the first trailer for his directorial debut, "Sound City."

Sound City, for those of you not part of the rock n' roll elite, was a recording studio in California where some of the most important and influential records of all time were created. Including, of course, Nirvana's "Nevermind."

Unfortunately, Sound City closed down its recording studio last year. On the plus side, that prompted Grohl to make this documentary about the studio's legacy. And since Grohl is pretty much friends with every major musician in the entire world, he's packed in dozens of amazing interviews with everyone from Tom Petty to Lars Ulrich about the importance of Sound City.
