Ben Affleck's "Argo" is turning into the little movie that could, as the historical thriller finally hit the top spot on the box office charts this weekend in its third week of release, topping the list with an estimated $12.4 million according to Film.com.

That was enough to beat out a weak slate of newcomers, which included a particularly poor showing from The Wachowski's "Cloud Atlas;" the sci-fi epic, which cost over $100 to make, returned a paltry $9.4 million in its opening weekend despite A-list stars Tom Hank and Halle Berry.

For a full rundown of the weekend's box office figures, including numbers for the new horror release "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" and returning horror champion "Paranormal Activity 4," head to Film.com.
