Sixty-four of our favorite vampires, werewolves, humans and hybrids are throwing down in an intra-fandemonium MTV tournament to decide once and for all which "Twilight" character is the very favorite among Twi-hards.
It's a stone cold battle in the making, and while Edward (Robert Pattinson), Bella (Kristen Stewart) and/or Jacob (Taylor Lautner) are the most obvious favorites, there may be some other stiff competitors in this thing yet. Let's break it down.

There's no question that the "Twi-o" — or "Twifecta," if you will — have a solid lead on the rest. The entire series has revolved around them, and the emotional attachment of the fan community to these three is unquestionable. Between them, Edward's got that immortal swoon factor going for him, while Jacob's still handily working his muscle-bound good guy routine. Bella, however, has literally transformed by "Part 2" into this can-do vampiress who's got some serious skills to bargain with. Not to mention, the bevy of Team Edward and Team Jacob voters may just cancel each other out a little bit.
Another major threat on the board is the fourth No. 1 seed, the ever-lovable Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene). From the very first book, her savvy for fashion, amazing attitude and über-helpful little talent stole our hearts, so she's got a great shot at the win as well.
Finally, if the "Harry Potter" tournament's results are any indication, book lovers sometimes fancy their villains just as much as their heroes, especially when the sinister surface is but a layer to their makeup. In the case of Aro (Michael Sheen), the films brought some real substance and enjoyability to the foe. He's quirky but reasonable, vicious and yet somehow mannered and sympathetic. The "Saga" just wouldn't be the same without his penchant for collecting valuable vamps and obeying the law above all, so he's certainly a top tier consideration at the outset.

Don't count the good doctor out of making a serious splash in this competition. Carlisle Cullen (Peter Facinelli), the handsome blonde leader of the coven, is one of the most refined and well-respected in the entire "Twilight" world, and if Facinelli brings even a fraction of his massive Twitter following into the fold, he's quickly going to become the one to beat.
Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), too, stands a shot at sneaking into the top spot. First of all, she's the unlikely lovechild of one epic romance, and secondly, she's an enigma for the ages. The world hardly knows what to make of the little girl, except nearly everyone falls in love with her at first contact. (Wouldn't you? She's so darn cute!) We'll see if her mystery and the fanbase's excitement over finally seeing her in action rings true with the vote.
And let's not forget about little Bree Tanner (Jodelle Ferland). Sure, her movie close-ups were few and far between in just one installment ("The Twilight Saga: Eclipse") but Stephenie Meyer did devote an entire spin-off book to the girl. Through "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella" fans got to experience an entirely different side to the story we'd already known and step into the thirsty mind of a surprisingly intriguing new vampire. And perhaps Bree's success here would point Summit in the direction of future "Twilight" movies.
Match-ups We Want to See

Sam Uley (Chaske Spencer) never did get his comeuppance for leaving Leah Clearwater (Julia Jones) in the dust, and neither did his new lady Emily Young (Tinsel Korey) for that matter. It sure would be nice to see Leah give either of those two the proverbial hand (although it's highly unlikely).
Same goes for Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre/Bryce Dallas Howard) and Riley Biers (Xavier Samuel). The poor kid lost more than just his life thanks to the duplicitous redhead, so there's a major score to settle between them. Team Riley could come out one-handed swinging on the match-up for sure.
The age-old rivalry between Aro and the duo of Romanians — Stefan (Guri Weinberg) and Vladimir (Noel Fisher) — really got fleshed out in Meyer's "The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Companion." Aro decimated the entire ranks of the Romanian guard and left these two racing around the planet to escape his never-ending wrath. While they won't get to satisfy their thirst in "Part 2," here they'll at least get their shot at giving Aro his long overdue ousting once and for all.
Also, despite their immense dislike for one another throughout the entire series, the "Twilight" world never really got its anticipated knock-down drag-out fight between Edward and Jacob. Instead, the love triangle became a convenient square and happy days ensued. The End. Perhaps Team Edward fans and Team Jacob-ites will finally giv'er a go in a quantifiable manner here.
Finally, we're totally braced for the domestic fight of the century with Edward and Bella. It's high time these two had their first real argument, and what better way than this, where the stakes (eternal bragging rights) are so bloody high?
Our Official Predictions
[caption id="attachment_98351" align="alignright" width="220"] Summit[/caption]
If we're plugging in our guesses, we're thinkin' we'll see the following four match-ups in the Elite Eight:
• Edward v. Carlisle
• Jacob v. Emmett
• Bella v. Charlie
• Alice v. Renesmee
This would then result in a Edward and Jacob facing off in the Final Four, as well as mother and daughter, Bella and Renesmee. Bella would have the edge on the tyke, the vamp would beat the wolf once and for all and our favorite romantic pair will have to duke it out.
In other words, our money's on Bella taking the whole thing.
