Crew Member Drowns on Set of 'The Lone Ranger'

It's a very sad day for "The Lone Ranger" today as an unidentified crew member has died in an on-set accident, according to Heat Vision.

The crewman apparently drowned while preparing for an underwater action scene in the upcoming action adventure. The person was not a stunt performer, nor did the accident occur while cameras were rolling. Disney is investigating the incident and has issued the following statement:

"We regretfully confirm that a 'Lone Ranger' crew member has passed away after being taken to a local hospital. Our hearts and thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time, and our full support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this terrible event."

The film had previously filmed in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah before moving production to Los Angeles this month. It's been something of a troubled production since its inception, from a near-cancellation over budget costs to inclement weather during shooting to star Johnny Depp being injured while on horseback.

"The Lone Ranger" is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 3, 2013.
