'Lincoln' Meets Technology in Times Square Trailer Premiere

Go big or go home. That's our Steven Spielberg's motto. The moviemaker extraordinaire is constantly breaking new ground with his epic features—and now he's applying his Midas touch to trailers as well. At least, one trailer, that is.

Spielberg will give the world its first look at his highly anticipated "Lincoln," which stars Daniel Day Lewis as the popular president, with a live-broadcast in Times Square through Google+ Hangout on September 13 at 4pm PST, IndieWire reveals. Google+ Hangout allows people to connect face-to-face through a group video chat. We know; we can see all those extra hours spent socializing online stacking up now too.

Spielberg and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays Robert Todd Lincoln—yes, Abraham's first son, will be on-hand to have a live conversation as part of the event. Before we go any further, can we just give a shout out to Gordon-Levitt? He seriously seems to be everywhere these days. For reals.

If you want to participate in this historic event (we use that term loosely), simply submit a short video on your YouTube channel with the #LincolnHangout tag explaining who you are, why you're interested in the flick and what your question is. We'll have to wait and see if this experiment successfully transforms a trailer release into a… "thing"… but if anyone can make it work, we're pretty sure it's this guy.
