One of the hallmarks of Marvel Comics is the fact that, underneath their underoos, their heroes are real people with real world problems. So it's only fitting that, according to a new press release issued by Marvel Studios, production has been delayed on "Iron Man 3" because star Robert Downey Jr. hurt his ankle filming a stunt sequence.
Now there's something that wouldn't happen to Superman.
Fans shouldn't get too worried, though, because, while Marvel hasn't released too many details, the injury doesn't appear to be serious.
"Robert Downey Jr sustained an ankle injury on the set of 'Iron Man 3' in Wilmington, North Carolina, while performing a stunt," the press release reads. "There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates."
While we're glad to hear that the delay in filming will be short, we're even more glad to hear that the injury is minor enough to allow for only a short delay. Now if only the folks at Marvel can convince RDJ to let his stunt doubles do some of the dirty work.
After all, even super heroes sometimes need to realize that discretion is the better part of valor. Get well soon, Robert!
