With the primary season drawing to a close and the convention season fast approaching, this year's election cycle has finally crystallized, presenting voters with two clear choices for the office of President of the United States: Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. But now, according to Collider, there's a new candidate throwing his hat in the ring. And his name? Severus Snape.
So much for cleaning up Washington!
If the idea of President Snape sounds too crazy to be true, well, technically it is. But fans of both "Harry Potter" and good acting in general have reason to be excited today, because veteran actor Alan Rickman is in talks to star in Lee Daniels' upcoming drama "The Butler" as none other than President Ronald Reagan.
And Rickman isn't the only big name rumored to be interested in the story about a real life butler named Eugene Allen who served at the White House for more than 30 years. Matthew McConaughey, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard are all apparently in the mix as well, while Forest Whitaker, David Oyelowo and Oprah Winfrey are signed up as well.
And, oh yeah, John Cusack and Oscar winner Jane Fonda are also already on board, reportedly as Richard Nixon and Nancy Reagan, respectively.
All of which could add up to the biggest and best ensemble cast since, well, "Harry Potter." Severus Snape for President? Now that's the kind of change we all can believe in.
