What's more dangerous than playing a vampire on one of television's hottest shows? How about playing a 27-year-old billionaire/ S&M enthusiast in Hollywood's next sure blockbuster? Sounds good to us. And, apparently, it sounds good to Ian Somerhalder of "The Vampire Diaries."
On Monday, when Somerhalder visited Ryan Seacrest, the smoldering thesp revealed that he is "potentially" up for the coveted lead of Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey." What's more, he's pretty jazzed (our word, not his) about the whole idea.
"I would absolutely be up for that." Somerhalder explained, "That would be a pretty incredible thing. And hopefully that could pan out." In fact, he went as far as to declare, "Beyond a shadow of a doubt I think it would be a phenomenal opportunity."
Never mind that he hasn't actually read the book yet. Details. Details.
When asked who he would like to play the female lead of Anastasia Steele, however, Somerhalder was less forthcoming. Instead, he took the diplomatic route. "There are so many phenomenal actors" out there right now. After a bit more pressing by Seacrest, he did mumble something about sending a name to Ryan "in a card"... but we probably won't get one of those so we'll never know who his dream on-screen S&M partner is. Well, unless he gets the part, of course.
