Rapper Kid Cudi is making some social media noise about the new "Nina Turtles" movie, in a good way.
While plenty of fans have taking to Twitter and other outlets to voice their vehement disapproval of the Michael Bay project, Cudi is hinting that he's got the inside scoop on the movie.
Earlier this month, Kid Cudi Tweeted, "To everyone with doubts & concerns about the new TMNT reboot, trust me, there is NOTHING to worry about. Trust. Everyone will be pleased!"
This sent the media into a tizzy of conjecture about Cudi's involvement. In a gesture of what could be seen as tacit approval of Kid's statements, producer Brad Bird even retweeted a link to a Huffington Post story about Cudi and the Turtles. There's been no official statement, however.
Kid Cudi then took to Tumblr later that day to post "an original one of a kind sketch" by one of Kevin Eastman, one of the co-creators of the Turtles. He wrote it was "a gift given to me by my homies Andrew Form and Brad Fuller over at Platinum Dunes. Hint hint mane."
Thanks for the hint, mane. I think we got it.
Now the question is how Cudi would be involved. If he was just contributing a song to the movie, as was the case with "The Hunger Games" and "Project X," would he be as involved hyping it up on various social media networks? Whatever the case, the team behind the surprisingly controversial movie is smart to let any details leak through a hip source and medium that younger audiences will be paying attention to, rather than TMZ reports of angry voice actors from the '80s.
Although the Turtles purists — are there such a thing?! — will be paying attention, the people the movie will really be targeted towards are following Kid Cudi on Twitter and Tumblr.
