Before Earth's mightiest heroes assemble on May 4th, the superpowered defenders of the Marvel Universe want to punch one more thing hard … your wallet.
According to Deadline, the May 3rd $40-dollar all-day marathon of all five interconnected Marvel Studios movies leading up to the midnight premiere of "The Avengers" is selling out a month ahead in no less than 10 major AMC locations across the country.
To meet the unprecedented demand to watch both "Iron Man" flicks, "The Incredible Hulk" "Thor," and "Captain America" in a gradual ramp-up to Joss Whedon's team-up slugfest/fanboy wet dream, AMC theaters announced that they are adding more shows at certain locations.
And 1,000 nerds just breathed through their inhalers with a sigh of relief.

New Line Cinema pulled a similar promotional stunt in Fall of 2003 with a bladder-busting marathon of "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers" (4-hour extended editions) leading into the premiere of "Return of the King," which proved to be a memorably geektastic experience despite the fact that everyone in the audience probably owned the first two installments on DVD already.
The sellouts for "Avengers Eve" are a testament to themed days like this tapping into something beyond mere marketing ploys, but a genuine longing for a communal fan experience. We can totally imagine some 32-year-old guy dressed in a homemade Loki costume high-fiving everyone in the theater, pointing his scepter in the air and shouting "THIS IS MY WOODSTOCK!"
