Kids Rule in 'Battlefield America' Trailer

No, "Battlefield America" isn't the first of probably many "Hunger Games" rip-offs. Nor is it the larger-scale sequel to last year's sci-fi shoot-'em-up, "Battle: Los Angeles."

"Battlefield" is basically "You Got Served" for the elementary school set as it follows a group of misfit pre-teens preparing for an underground dancing competition. Don't think that the fact that they have to be in bed by 8 means this dance-off doesn't have high stakes, though — no, in this world, even the little ones have to "Battle for Honor," according to the trailer. You've got to grow up fast in dancing!

Is this a put-on? Maybe, kind of? No matter how seriously we're supposed or not supposed to take "Battlefield America" (awesome title, by the way), the trailer's a lot of fun, especially in the first half where brief bursts of furious dance sequences are interrupted by flashes of inner-city pathos, where the kids lament over their odds of winning and even criticize the skills of their instructor.

Stomp around with the trailer below, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies. "Battlefield America" opens June 1.
