Beware What's Behind Blue Eyes in 'The Host' Teaser

Now you know that everyone with blue eyes is actually possessed by an alien parasite.

The stakes are a little higher than those of "The Twilight Saga" in Stephenie Meyer's follow-up sci-fi story, "The Host." In fact, the entire planet is being threatened as people are being taken over by 'The Souls,' aliens that set up shop in their human hosts and make everyone nice and complacent (which is at least a step up from the emotionless automatons of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers").

Things get complicated, though, when Mel Stryder (Saoirse Ronan), a rebel soldier in the battle against the invaders, becomes possessed by an alien known as Wanderer … and the visitor starts becoming fascinated with what it means to be human, which it's experiencing through Mel's memories.

The teaser trailer doesn't really reveal any footage other than a glimpse at the blue-eyed Ronan but it certainly sets the stage for what looks to be an exciting and more than a little ominous adventure. This should definitely everyone's blood pumping as "The Hunger Games" is finally unleashed -- and remind us that Miss Meyer is indeed still going to be around after "Twilight" wraps up later this year with "Breaking Dawn - Part 2."
