"He's a hard guy not to like," Kitsch confessed during the press junket for "John Carter." "If you don't, there's something wrong with you … In or out of the business, if you meet a guy like that, you do what you can to stay around a guy like him."

One reporter asked the actor if Jackman was annoyed that he stole his girl, Lynn Collins, who stars in "John Carter" and was the love interest in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

"Not at all, not for one second," Kitsch said. "He was probably more proud of me than anything. We're very close. He's been a big influence on me."

As for returning to his gig as Gambit in a possible future "X-Men: Origins" movie, he's not entirely game.

"Not for me – I'm done with it," he said. "We'll see. My plate's so full and I'm excited to go gritty again."
