More 'Muppets' Coming, But With Less Jason Segel

"The Muppets" may be the biggest puppet-based Oscar winner in recent history, but that doesn't seem to be enough to keep the stars coming back for more.

Jason Segel, who called writing and starring in the first movie "my dream," won't be returning to pen the sequel, choosing instead to focus on other projects already in the works.

Vulture reports that the actor will be spending his time working on the eighth season of his hit CBS show, "How I Met Your Mother" and Judd Apatow's highly anticipated "Knocked Up" sequel, "This is Forty," in addition to promoting the April release of "The Five Year Engagement," which he wrote and stars in.

While Segel may not take on any behind-the-scenes duties in the sequel, there is still a chance he may star in the film, for which director James Bobin and Segel's co-writer Nicholas Stoller have already signed on.

If his enthusiasm for the first film is any indication, Segel's a sure thing. "I just wanted to bring them back," Segal told David Letterman. "I love them."
