Vin Diesel proved he could handle The Rock in "Fast Five." But can he handle Batista?
We'll soon find out as the two titans will clash in a battle of galactic proportions in the untitled sequel to "The Chronicles of Riddick," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dave Bautista, who's perhaps most well-known as WWE superstar Batista, will be playing the role of Diaz in the "Riddick" sequel, who we can only assume is some sort of nemesis to Richard B. Riddick (Diesel), the eternally-hunted ex-con who can see in the dark. Bautista joins a cast that includes Jordi Molla, Katee Sackhoff and Karl Urban.
The "Riddick" sequel follows Riddick's adventures after he's betrayed and left for dead on an unfriendly planet. After intergalactic bounty hunters (or "mercs," as they're referred to in the Riddick-verse) descend upon him, Riddick uses their attack as an instrument for revenge as he attempts to return to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
Dave Bautista has been doing this acting thing a lot lately, having recently wrapped a role in RZA's directorial debut, "The Man with the Iron Fists," co-starring Russell Crowe. He also kept The Rock's legacy alive with a role in "The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption" and raised all sorts of hell in "House of the Rising Sun."
The "Riddick" sequel is currently shooting in Montreal under the direction of David Twohy, who called the shots on the two previous Riddick adventures, "Pitch Black" (2000) and "The Chronicles of Riddick" (2004).
