Hollywood's former baddest bad boy, Robert Downey Jr., has become one of the silver screen's most respected stars in recent years, but it seems that his biggest role has just arrived.

People reports that the "Sherlock Holmes" star and his wife Susan, a producer, welcomed their first child together at 7:24 this morning in Los Angeles.

The baby boy, named Exton Elias Downey, weighted in at 7 lbs., 5 oz., and measured a lanky 20 inches.

The proud parents met in 2002 on the set of Halle Berry thriller "Gothika," while Downey was in the midst of divorcing his first wife, actress Deborah Falconer, with whom he has an 18-year-old son, Indio.

The couple married just two years later in Long Island, NY, and, despite his past bad behavior, Downey claimed that his wife had finally settled him down for good. "[She] has got me on a freakin' choke chain, and I love it."

The actor accidentally revealed the sex of the baby to Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" in late 2011, and, despite his wife's desire to keep the information under wraps, she divulged,  "I could never really stay mad at him."

Despite the big change, Downey won't have a lot of downtime for diaper duty; he just wrapped "The Avengers," the third installment in the "Iron Man" series starts filming next year, and he's rumored to be teaming up with Tim Burton for a live action retelling of "Pinocchio."
