Reunited and it feels so good ...
It's been nearly a decade since Catherine Hardwicke directed Evan Rachel Wood in the teen drama "Thirteen," but now it seems the two are getting back together for a new, more grown-up film.
The Texan director who gave Bella and Edward their big break is switching from her usual, more teen-centric fare to "an erotic thriller set in the L.A. music world" with Wood set to star. Artie Nelson cowrote the script for "Plush" with Hardwicke, who will direct.
Evan Rachel Wood has played sexy on and off-screen for years, from the nasty teen protagonist in "Pretty Persuasion" to the queen of the vamps in "True Blood," and then there's that Marilyn Manson video. But can Hardwicke do grown-up sexy? The director specializes in capturing the intensity of being a teen, and even "Red Riding Hood" steered clear of more than a few PG-13-rated heaving bosoms despite the presence of a smokin' hot cast.
"Plush" is still just an idea in development that will be shopped around the European Film Market in Berlin. In the meantime, we'll probably get a gander at the ever-glam ERW at this year's Oscars, where "The Ides of March" is up for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Hardwicke is attached to several upcoming projects like "The Bitch Posse" and a biopic starring the original "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," Noomi Rapace. Neither of these films have start dates, so perhaps we'll be getting "Plush" soon.
