Actress Eva Amurri and former soccer star Kyle Martino had a sweet Southern wedding in South Carolina over the weekend. Martino is a former pro soccer player turned commentator on ESPN, while Amurri is known for roles in "Californication," "Saved!" and "The Education of Charlie Banks."
Amurri's mom Susan Sarandon hosted the wedding, along with her former partner Tim Robbins (the longtime couple broke up in 2009 after 23 years together). Anti-death penalty advocate Sister Helen Prejean performed the ceremony. If you'll recall, Sarandon won an Oscar for her role as Prejean in the Robbins-directed drama "Dead Man Walking." Amurri played Prejean at the age of 9.
Amurri told InStyle in January that she was working on a book "about how overwhelming being engaged is for a modern woman … I realized once I got engaged, that everyone is overwhelmed, but nobody talks about it. I'm going to try and write this book as a companion guide for women who are overwhelmed." Well, it looks like everything went off without a hitch for this "Ivy league-educated starlet with a Hollywood pedigree" (as per Maxim).
Although she's from a famous fam, Amurri is pretty cool about the whole shebang. She told the lad mag, "We don't really look alike, and I have a different last name, so in auditions a lot of people didn't know. But people love 'got off the bus from Idaho' stories, so they're not rooting for you if you're from a family that's done it. They think you don't deserve it, even if you're working to fight that perception. But it's also great in some ways, so, you know, don't cry for me, Argentina."
Meanwhile, Amurri will have a guest spot on the adorkable Zooey Deschanel series "The New Girl." She Tweeted the news in late September, so hopefully we'll see the newly married Amurri on the small screen soon. She recently wrapped the movie "I Hate You, Dad," with Adam Sandler, Leighton Meester, Andy Samberg and Sarandon.
