Carrey & Carell? That definitely has potential.

The two master comedians are set to join forces live in the flesh (rather than just as voices) in the new comedy, "Burt Wonderstone," according to Deadline.

Steve Carell plays the title role, a Las Vegas magician who breaks with his longtime stage partner and finds himself upstaged by a rival hip street magician who is stealing his thunder. No word on whether Carrey is in talks to play the former partner or the rival, though our bet is on the latter. Or, knowing Carrey, maybe he'll be playing both roles.

Carell & Carrey previously provided their voice talents as the Mayor and Horton, respectively, in the excellent animated Dr. Seuss adaptation, "Horton Hears a Who!" We can't wait to see what kind of tricks they're capable of outside of a recording studio.

Steve Carell was most recently seen in the ensemble romantic comedy, "Crazy, Stupid, Love," while Jim Carrey was reduced to dancing to "Ice, Ice Baby" with a bunch of CGI penguins in "Mr. Popper's Penguins."

"Burt Wonderstone" will be directed by longtime television director Don Scardino, who most recently called the shots on several episodes of "30 Rock." No start date has been announced yet, though we expect New Line is hoping for a Summer 2013 release date.
