Fresh off her shining performance as the vengeful Minny Jackson in the hit drama "The Help," Octavia Spencer is snapping up new roles left and right. The latest project to land at her feet is a potential role in Diablo Cody's as-of-yet untitled directorial debut (formerly called "Lamb of God"), which would cast Spencer opposite the likes of Julianne Hough and Russell Brand.
The story follows a sheltered young girl (Hough) who moves to Vegas after losing her faith following a plane crash. In Sin City, she finds an unlikely companion (Brand) who inadvertently helps her find her true self. Spencer would play a dealer at the casino where Brand's wayward character works, Cinema Blend reports.
Though it certainly sounds like this is a supporting role, we can only hope (and assume) that Spencer gets her share of screen time—after all, the lady might be an Oscar winner by the time this flick hits theaters.
Production is scheduled to begin this spring, which means Spencer should ink a deal sooner rather than later. In the meantime, you can get your dose of Diablo Cody with "Young Adult," which opens this December.
