Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton Make 'Joyful Noise'

Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton isn't a team-up we'd imagine in a million years, and yet it seems like it was a long time coming.

The alpha females that make up cinema's latest odd couple argue and sing their way through the new musical comedy, "Joyful Noise."

The story of two headstrong opposites reluctantly joining forces to face some Seemingly Insurmountable Task certainly isn't a new one, but individually these two ladies have enough personality to fill ten movies -- so imagine what they could do if they worked together.

Anyway, even if it's not the most original movie in the world, "Joyful Noise" looks like it has a heart as big as Texas (Dolly has most certainly spent some time in that state!), and that definitely counts for a lot these days. And it was directed by Todd Graff, who scurried around with a pet rat on his shoulder in "The Abyss."
