Rebecca Hall doesn't believe in no ghosts... but she soon will!

It isn't very often that we get a classy-looking horror film, and "The Awakening" has "class" written all over it, what with its World War I setting, fancy British accents and inquisitive eyebrow-raises.

Hall plays an author and ghost debunker who, unlike many people looking for solace and comfort upon the all-too-real horrors of the first World War, doesn't embrace the idea of the supernatural. She's called on to investigate something of a "disturbance" at a boarding school and... well, you know how that kind of situation usually goes for silly skeptics.

"The Awakening" looks classy, for sure, and Rebecca Hall is awesome. The supporting cast is strong, too, with Dominic West and ex-Hogwarts headmistress Imelda Staunton both looking intensely concerned. It looks like a mix of both "The Orphanage" and "The Devil's Backbone" with a little "Sherlock Holmes" thrown in to taste. And it should taste pretty good...

... if it's also actually scary. A tall order, these days. We shall see.

"The Awakening" is making its debut at the Toronto Film Festival and has yet to lock down a U.S. release date. Get haunted by the trailer below.
