David Oyelowo is taking aim.
The "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" star seems to have survived the little incident that occurred on the Golden Gate Bridge earlier this summer as he's signed on to join Tom Crusie in the new thriller, "One Shot," according to Variety.
"One Shot" is based on a novel by Lee Child, one of many in a series about Jack Reacher (Cruise), a former military policeman turned eccentric drifter/soldier-for-hire. "One Shot" finds Reacher investigating a case in which a sniper is accused of killing five people.
Oyelowo will play a veteran homicide detective investigating the murders. The cast also includes Rosamund Pike as the attorney defending the accused shooter.
David Oyelowo had a great summer, appearing in both the new "Apes" movie and "The Help." He just wrapped the new thriller, "The Paperboy," and will next be seen in the Lucasfilm-produced WWII movie, "Red Tails," opening Jan. 20, 2012.
"One Shot," which is set to be adapted and directed by Tom Cruise's "Valkyrie" pal, Christopher McQuarrie, is set to begin production in the next few months with a look toward a release date of Feb. 8, 2013.
