Lady Antebellum may be putting out a brand new album today, but that excitement owes a little tip-of-the cowboy hat to an unlikely hero.
A movie.
And not just any movie. Singer-songwriter Hillary Scott confesses to Next Movie that a certain Whoopi Goldberg flick inspired her to keep singing when she was thinking about calling it quits.
"There was a movie that actually inspired me to continue singing. It was 'Sister Act 2,' which sounds so random," she tells NextMovie exclusively during the Alice + Olivia presentation at New York Fashion Week.
"I was probably 11 or 12, really young, and I'd been singing my whole life," she explains. " It was almost like that was when I realized that not only do I love to sing because it's been a part of my life because my parents do, but it's a calling. I was like, 'OK, this is what I'm supposed to do.' That movie just kind of helped bring it out. I don't know how."
And the Grammy winner still has a habit of crooning with the nuns of St. Francis.
"That's the movie that I will watch a million times and love singing along to every word," she says. "It just inspires me."
