Vanessa Hudgens better pack her warm clothes.

The "Sucker Punch" star is set to endure harsh weather conditions as she joins the serial killer thriller, "Frozen Ground," according to Deadline.

"Frozen Ground" is based on the true story of Robert Hansen, Alaska's most notorious serial killer. Regarded by his community as a respectable family man, Hansen, over the course of 12 years, abducted more than 24 women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness, where he would proceed to hunt them down and murder them.

John Cusack completely leaves Lloyd Dobler behind him as he's set to play the role of Hansen. Hudgens will play the one teenage victim who managed to escape from Hansen's clutches and teamed up with an Alaskan State Trooper (to be played by Cusack's "Con Air" co-star, Nicolas Cage) to bring the killer to justice.

Vanessa Hudgens has been keeping busy since her "High School Musical" days with her turns in "Sucker Punch" and "Beastly." She'll next be seen in "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," opening Feb. 10, 2012, and as a pregnant teen living on the streets in "Gimme Shelter," which will be released sometime next year.

"Frozen Ground" is set to commence with principal photography in Anchorage on Oct. 17.
