The filmmakers behind Paramount's fast-tracked sequel "G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation" are entirely "Justified" in making their latest addition to the star-studded cast.

According to Variety, Walton Goggins has just parachuted his way into a role where he'll play Warden Nigel James, a new character, which is strange considering there's decades worth of toys, comic books, and cartoons to choose a wacky warden character from.

That's okay, though, we like new things, even in sequels.

Goggins isn't the only new thing in the movie, which we will now refer to by the annoying acronym "G.I. J2: R." The half-reboot/half-sequel is bringing back Channing Tatum as Duke, Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Byung Hun-lee as Storm Shadow, but will not bring back anyone else including Marlon Wayans. *one-tear*

Series newcomers include Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, Elodie Yung as Jinx, DJ Cotrona as Flint, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, RZA as The Blind Master, Joseph Mazzello as Mouse and Ray Stevenson as Firefly, and Bruce Willis as the original "Joe."

While Goggins has spent years as a TV mainstay on gritty shows like "The Shield" and "Justified," the latter for which he's nominated for a Supporting Actor Emmy playing Boyd Crowder, he's also worked steadily in those movin' pictures we hear so much about.

Genre fans will recognize him as the rapey serial killer with the prison jumpsuit in "Predators," and he's apparently caught Spielberg's eye as the bearded one cast him in "Cowboys & Aliens" and his upcoming directorial effort "Lincoln." He also won a 2001 Academy Award for the acclaimed short film "The Accountant" alongside Ray McKinnon and the late Lisa Blount.

"G.I. J2: R," the sequel with the kung-fu grip, is scheduled to land in theaters guns blazing on June 29, 2012.
