Kevin Bacon as the bad guy? We always like it -- and more Bacon-villainy is on the way!
The "X-Men: First Class" star will once again turn to the dark side as he signs on to play the primary antagonist in the horror comedy, "R.I.P.D.," according to Variety.
"R.I.P.D." tells the story of a cop killed in the line of duty who is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department. He then tries to find the man who murdered him.
Ryan Reynolds has been cast in the role of the slain lawman, and we're assuming Bacon is the guy who did the slaying. The cast also includes Jeff Bridges as Reynolds' partner and mentor in the ways of the afterlife.
Kevin Bacon is great in hero roles but he brings something extra special when he plays villains. He recently made a strong impression as the eternally young-looking (well, middle-aged-looking, anyway) head of the Hellfire Club, Sebastian Shaw, in "X-Men: First Class."
He also made for the creepiest prison guard ever in "Sleepers" and took being a peeping tom to a whole new sinister level in "Hollow Man."
Bacon is currently filming a (non-villainous) role in Billy Bob Thornton's "Jayne Mansfield's Car." He'll next be seen (as a non-villain, as far as we can tell) in "Crazy, Stupid, Love," opening July 29.
