Emma Stone could be trouble for both law-makers and law-breakers.

The "Friends With Benefits" beauty may reunite with her "Crazy, Stupid, Love" co-star Ryan Gosling for the cops-and-mobsters thriller, according to Variety.

Emma is in talks to play the role of Jean, the saucy dame in a dangerous love triangle with two men on opposite sides of the law: Sgt. Jerry Wooters (Gosling) and the vicious gangster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn).

If she accepts the role, Emma wouldn't be reuniting with just Gosling -- "Gangster Squad" would mark her second project with her "Zombieland" director, Ruben Fleischer.

Every bit of casting news on "Gangster Squad" (and there has been a lot) gets us more excited for the tale about the specialized team of cops assigned to keep East Coast gangsters out of 1940s L.A., and the possibility of Emma coming aboard is no exception. The casting for this movie has been long overdue for a woman's touch as well.

"Crazy, Stupid, Love" opens July 29, and Emma's "The Help" opens less than two weeks later on Aug. 10. After that, she'll next be seen as Gwen Stacy in "The Amazing Spider-Man," opening July 3, 2012.

"Gangster Squad" will open sometime in 2013.
