Good ol' Tom is about to Cruise into another action flick — this time, with Christopher McQuarrie's adaptation of Lee Child's "One Shot," which centers on Jack Reacher, a former military police officer-turned-drifter.
The thriller follows Reacher as he investigates a case in which a lone sniper murders five victims before being captured… only our hero soon discovers this is far more than a simple open-and-shut case, Deadline reports.
Though Cruise doesn't exactly match the book's description of Reacher as a 6-foot-5, 250-pound hulk of a man, Child said that he's excited about Cruise playing the role because "Reacher's size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way."
In other words, size doesn't matter.
But timing does. Cruise is already slated to star in the upcoming "Oblivion," which starts production next January, which means the "One Shot" gang better get everything in order soon so they can get this shot this coming fall, before the star's next commitment starts.
Word on the street is that Paramount is already hoping to turn this into a series, which means if all goes well, "One Shot" will be anything but.
