Word around Tinseltown is that Isla Fisher is in negotiations to join Baz Lurhmann's 3-D adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby."'
If all goes well, the fiery redhead will join an all-star cast that's sure to bring a modern twist to this classic tale.
Topping the list are Leonardo DiCaprio as the rich and infamous Jay Gatsby, and Tobey Maguire as the story's Mid-western narrator, Nick Carraway.
Carey Mulligan will play Gatsby's love, Daisy Buchanan, who happens to be married to a wealthy fellow named Tom Buchanan (the role originally offered to Ben Affleck) — who happens to be having an affair with a married woman named Myrtle — the role that Fisher may fill.
Though Myrtle is a supporting character, she plays a key role in the fates of the entire group, because it's her untimely death that speeds the story toward its tragic end.
Did you get all that?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. Lurhmann is aiming for a late summer start, which means Fisher better ink that deal soon.
Because if anyone can make the '20s roar, we're pretty sure it's her.
