You know, "The Hunger Games" is really well named, because it seems that the more fans learn about the upcoming adaptation of the wildly popular series of novels from Suzanne Collins, the hungrier they get.
Well, chew on this, y'all: according to Entertainment Weekly, Lionsgate has announced the latest set of combatants set to enter the tournament, as District 11 champions Thresh and Rue have both been cast, with the parts going to unknowns Dayo Okiniyi and Amandla Stenberg, respectively.
Here's the quick recap for those of you who have been hibernating on Mars for the past five years: "The Hunger Games" is the first volume in a trilogy set in a grim near future where an evil government forces kids from around the country to battle to the death on live TV for sport. At least, they do right up until they make the mistake of picking budding revolutionaries Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) as the contestants from District 12.
But while most of the internet chatter has surrounded the casting of those main characters, along with that of Peeta's rival for Katniss' heart, Gale (Liam Hemsworth), there are still eleven other districts, meaning there's plenty to buzz about, especially given the low profiles of Okiniyi (whose only previous film work is the upcoming indie horror film "Slew Hampshire") and Stenberg (who will be appearing in "Colombiana" later this year).
One thing's for sure: they may have been unknown yesterday, but as of this moment, they're suddenly two of the hottest actors in Hollywood. Because when it comes to these "Hunger Games," just playing is enough to make everyone involved a winner.
