The multi-talented Ed Burns doesn't exactly need help making a movie.
He managed to write, direct and star in "The Brothers McMullen," "She's the One" and "Sidewalks of New York" without seeking much outside assistance. But Burns is a modern man, and for his latest independent film, "Newlyweds," he's turned to Twitter and Facebook seeking fan help on various aspects of the story. Fans have named characters and even pitched in on the film's title.
Now he needs their help for the film's soundtrack.
Burns is holding a song contest and asking any unknown singers or musicians to submit a song for two key scenes in the film.
He needs one song to be a quiet, acoustic, coffee-house kind of sound, and another to be an indie pop song you could dance to. Since "Newlyweds" is set to close the Tribeca Film Festival on April 30, whomever wins is certain to get some serious exposure.
The contest is open right now and closes on April 20th. You can submit your song to Edward Burns' official site, or his Soundcloud group. Those who aren't interested in singing or songwriting can still have fun checking out the competition -- there are already tons of new voices to hear.
May the force be with any of our awesome readers entering the contest! Let us know how it goes via Twitter and we'll give you a shout.
In the meantime, we'll just have "Newlyweds" to look forward to -- and maybe someone familiar on the soundtrack.
