Taylor Kitsch is well on his way to becoming the next really, really big thing.
With big budget films like the upcoming "Battleship" and "John Carter of Mars" under his belt, Kitsch is now a contender for more serious stuff. According to Deadline, he is in talks to join Oliver Stone's "Savages," an adaptation of Don Winslow's violent, drug-heavy novel.
"Savages" centers on two easy-going marijuana dealers named Ben and Chon. They're turning a huge profit and enjoying smoking their own product. But they've gotten big enough that the Baja Cartel wants a piece of their action, and tries to threaten them into selling drugs to them. Ben and Chon refuse, and the Cartel kidnaps their best friend, Ophelia. Ben and Chon must get her back, setting the stage for a violent drug war.
Kitsch is in talks to play Chon, a former Navy Seal and a man capable of cold violence if someone threatens his friends or his marijuana. "Kick-Ass" star Aaron Johnson is in talks to play the easy going Ben.
Rumor has it that Stone wants them to go up against Selma Hayek, who would play Elena "La Reina" Sanchez-Lauter, the ruthless head of the Baja Cartel.
The "Friday Night Lights" heartthrob is no stranger to action, but this would be a whole new level of blood, drama, and mayhem. We don't encourage drug use, but we do encourage seeing Kitsch do just about anything.
