From the moment rap icon Tupac Shakur was gunned down, the hip hop community has been trying without any success to find a new artist who can take his place. But now it appears that the producers of a new biopic about Shakur's life have finally found the perfect person to fill his legendary shoes:

Time to start tuning up your flow, because Morgan Creek Productions has put out an open casting call for the role of Tupac Shakur -- and you're all invited to audition for the part. Haters need not apply.

Here's the deal: director Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") is teaming with Morgan Creek Tupac's mom, Afeni Sahkur, for "Tupac," a gritty and in-depth look at Tupac's life and death. But since there's really nobody in the rap industry right now who has the goods to play Tupac, they've decided to open the doors to everyone with a dream and a mic. And if you don't have the right look, don't worry about that either, because the producers are looking for something a little more important -- an artist with the right soul.

"We’re looking for someone with the right mix of raw charm and charisma for the role," says producer David Robinson. "At this point, we’re more concerned about finding someone with the ability to give their entire heart into the performance than just looks and personality."

So how does it work? Simple: head to their new website, In Search of Tupac, and download a short monologue. Then, once you've filmed yourself performing the dialogue -- and delivering one minute of your favorite Tupac rap -- upload the footage. And voila: you may be the next crossover rap/movie star.

Check out the teaser clip below and get rhyming, y'all. Because we've waited way too long for the next Tupac to come along -- and now may be your time:
