When you imagine our 16th President slaying vampires... you're unfortunately not also hearing the sounds of Trent Reznor's music playing over the carnage.
It would've been sweet, but alas, it was not meant to be. Trent himself has confirmed via the Nine Inch Nails Forums that he won't be scoring "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," as had been previously reported.
The man behind the Oscar-winning "Social Network" score also won't be making a cameo in Timur Bekmambetov's adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel.
Too bad -- we were looking forward to seeing the NIN frontman as the vampire who kills Abraham Lincoln's mother. Because that certainly would've been a sight to see -- one for the history books, at that.
However, Trent confirms that he is indeed hard at work in preparing the score for "Year Zero," the HBO miniseries based on NIN's seventh studio album of the same name that depicts a dystopian vision of the year 2022.
So Reznor is looking to the future, not the past, when it comes to scoring music. Too bad -- the idea of the Civil War mixed with vampires definitely had "Nine Inch Nails" written all over it.
