2011 is the year of Trent Reznor.
2010 was a warm up -- the Nine Inch Nails front man came out of nowhere to collaborate with Atticus Ross on the soundtrack for David Fincher's "The Social Network," but now he's hitting the big time.
Reznor posted on the official NIN forums that he has officially signed on for another project: the alternative history action movie "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." This all comes in the wake of Reznor picking up the Oscar for Best Original Score and signing on for Fincher's next film, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" set to hit theaters at the end of this year.
The musician was pursued by "Abraham Lincoln" director Timur Bekmambetov, who is, according to Reznor, "an interesting and very talented director that caught my attention with his film "Night Watch' " In between being enamored by one another's work, Reznor will also film a small cameo as the vampire who plays an important role in young Abraham's life (for more spoilers, head to Badass Digest, who broke the original story).
While "The Social Network" was unexpectedly subdued from the man behind NIN, "Abraham Lincoln" may be an opportunity for Reznor to delve into his darker, louder side. As the old adage goes, "it's not really vampire slaying unless you're head-banging to some thrashing electronica."
