Ryan Reynolds and Zach Galifianakis may be joining funny forces to bring the the pain to the supernatural world. This may not be that "Ghostbusters" sequel but they ain't afraid of no ghosts!

Reynolds' unique brand of spitfire witticisms may soon be joined by the slower, man-child antics of "Hangover" and "Due Date" star Galifianakis, if negotiations on the new supernatural crime-fighting movie "R.I.P.D." come to pass.

"R.I.P.D." (which stands for "Rest in Peace Department") is a long-gesting comic book movie Reynolds has been back-and-forth between (he also has the "X-Men" spin-off movie "Deadpool" in the works) for the better part of a year. Now, according to Hollywood Reporter, it appears the former has taken an inch closer to reality by the enlisting of Galifianakis, who would play a veteran ghostbuster to Reynolds newly deceased cop character.

The movie, to be directed by "Flightplan" and "RED" director Robert Schwentke, focuses on a police force comprised of ghosts who send the unruly dead back to the afterlife. With the combination of Reynolds and Galifianakis, we imagine it's also a pretty funny police force too.

With Reynolds' "Green Lantern" and Galifianakis' "Hangover 2" both debuting this summer, expect a decision over the official greenlight for "R.I.P.D." to be made shortly.
