Could Thor's younger brother be entering "The Hunger Games?"

Fans are in a frenzy with news that Liam Hemsworth, best known as Miley Cyrus' ex-boyfriend, is apparently up for the role of Peeta Mellark, the District 12 male tribute who joins Katniss Everdeen in the 74th annual Hunger Games. Hemsworth has indeed read the script, he told MTV News at Sundance Film Festival, calling it "super dark."

However, Hemsworth hasn't officially auditioned for the role or met with director Gary Ross.

"I mean, it's pretty early right now," Hemsworth said. "But, yeah, I'm sure I'll met [him] on it soon."

While we think Hemsworth could be a great addition to the "Hunger Games" universe, we agree with the fans on Twitter and don't quite see him as Peeta. However, he'd make a great Cato, the savage and fearsome male tribute from District 2, or -- looking further down the road -- Finnick Odair, the handsome yet cunning fisherman from District 4 who first appears in the second book, "Catching Fire."

Either way, the fact that he's read the script means we're getting closer and closer to some "Hunger Games" casting news -- bring it on!
