Mark Wahlberg and Will Smith Offered Money to Box Careers Into Oblivion

According to RadarOnline.com, Mark Wahlberg ("The Fighter," Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch) and Will Smith ("Ali," The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff) have been offered $1 million each to battle.

No, not rap battle, however, that would be way more plausible and arguably more entertaining. Sadly they've been offered what we imagine to be the price of their dry cleaning bill to box in a charity match in Las Vegas this February.

Because they were in boxing movies. And they're famous. And there's money to be made. This is the sort of logic that only works in a promoter's brain.

That promoter is Damon Feldman, the CEO of the Hollywood Boxing Federation. If you think such a thing sounds like a punchline, know that the HBF was formerly the CBF, the Celebrity Boxing Federation.

To be fair to Mr. Feldman and the HBF, other celebrities have fought and look at their careers: superstars like muscle-junky Danny Bonoduce and perma-teen Lindsay Lohan can't stay out of the headlines!

But really, there's no way this is happening. Right. This is too crazy, too ill-conceived, too shady. Just listen to Feldman's desperation in this quote from an interview with Radar, ""Come on, I really think that this would be a huge event and great way for them to donate to their favorite charities."

Want to know a great way to donate charity? Give money directly. Or heck, buy some video games!
