Gwyneth Paltrow is no amateur when it comes to movie musicals.
Though "Duets" flopped at the box office, her song "Cruising Together" can still be heard on soft radio stations. Now she's earning rave reviews for her vocal talents in "Country Strong," and her recent appearance on "Glee" charmed fans.
So it's really no surprise that Paltrow has been offered a role in Adam Shankman's big screen adaptation of "Rock of Ages."
A smash off-Broadway, "Ages" is tale of a Los Angeles couple who fall in and out of love in the 1980s. Their story is told entirely through the hit songs of the '80s, so there's plenty of Journey, Whitesnake and Bon Jovi.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Paltrow has the script and thinks it "sounds cool," but hasn't committed just yet. She wants to keep singing and doing more musical projects (including more episodes of "Glee"), so she may be signing up to rock out very soon.
Tom Cruise is also in talks to be a male lead in "Rock of Ages." The "Mission: Impossible" man has never done a musical before, but it's never to late to start, and he'd have a pro in Paltrow to help him along.
Cruise and Paltrow wearing tight pants, big hair, and belting out "Here I Go Again?" Sounds like nothing but a good time.
